Leonardo’s Art Workshop takes children on an interactive journey through essential art concepts by embracing the Renaissance period polymath Leonardo da Vinci's multidisciplinary approach: experimenting, creating projects, and exploring the connections between art, science, and nature. More than 500 years ago, Leonardo recognized the interconnectedness of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). His insatiable curiosity led him to not only study the outer appearance of his art subjects, but also the scientific explanations behind them. While starting as a painter, his curiosity, dedication, and brilliance led him to become a master sculptor, architect, designer, scientist, engineer, and inventor. The Leonardo’s Workshop series shares this spirit of multidisciplinary inquiry with children through accessible, engaging explanations and hands-on learning.

Following Leonardo’s lead, this captivating book harnesses children’s natural curiosity to explore the fundamental elements of art—color, shadow and light, lines and patterns, forms and structures, and optics and special effects—and the science behind them.
